The approach
Not just memorization
A student who has memorized a procedure can reproduce it on a familiar problem and stalls on anything else. A student who understands why it works can adapt. The second takes longer to build and holds up far better — on unit tests, on finals, and on the ACT.
Sessions are built around the student rather than a preset curriculum, and adapted for learning differences where relevant. There is an optional field on the contact form for that.

What is the time commitment, and how are sessions structured?
Most students begin with weekly 60- or 90-minute sessions, customized around the student’s course load and academic goals. Each meeting follows a structured but flexible framework: recap, focused instruction, then guided practice. Progress is reviewed with parents or guardians after each session, and scheduling is adaptable to weekdays and weekends.
Which AP courses do you cover?
Any math or science course through the AP level — AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Calculus AB, and AP Psychology among them. Dr. McClure’s neuroscience and pharmacy training covers the coursework behind each. The one exception is Calculus BC, also called Calculus 2, which is not offered.
Can you help with a class my student is currently failing?
Yes, and that is a common starting point. The first task is working out whether the gap is in the current unit or in something assumed from an earlier course — those need very different responses, and treating one as the other is why students stay stuck.
Is this only for students who are struggling?
No. Plenty of students come in with solid grades and want depth, competition preparation, or a stronger foundation before a harder course. Sessions are built around the goal, not around a deficit.
Do you work with students who have learning differences?
Yes. No two students can be taught in exactly the same way. Drawing from behavioral and neuropsychological principles, EM Tutoring identifies how a student’s processing differences influence performance, then adapts pacing and mentorship accordingly.
What does tutoring cost?
Rates depend on the subject, session length, and how often you meet, so we go over pricing on the introductory call. There’s no obligation and no pressure to book on the spot.
